RBM Supports World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Radio Biue Mountains is pleased to support World Elder Abuse Awareness Day for today, June 15 2020. This morning radio trainee and local social worker Marlene Churn (pictured hard right) interviewed Prue Hardgrove Blue Mountains City Council (pictured hard left) on Ron Green’s Breakfast Show about the issue this morning which is still very important even though many of the planned events were postponed due to COVID-19.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that older people are encouraged to stay at home and remain physically distant from their community. Although this is important health advice, there is now a greater importance for us all to ensure we remain socially connected and take action if there are concerns about the welfare of an older person, or suspicions of abuse caused by someone they know such as a family member, partner or neighbour.”

Prue wanted to relate to RBM listeners the importance of being especially aware of these issues during this time of isolation.
