Blak Douglas: The Halfway Line

Blak Douglas: The Halfway Line

Penrith Regional Gallery presents a mid-career survey of acclaimed First Nations artist Blak Douglas, who began his creative life in Penrith and went on to exhibit around Australia and overseas, winning the Archibald Prize in 2022 with his portrait of fellow First Nations artists Karla Dickens. This new free exhibition includes early work that has not been seen before, and covers the artist's career so far to the present. A fantastic overview of an endlessly inventive mind and energetic activist. Don't miss the free artist talk with Blak Douglas and co-curator Djon Mundine on Sunday 23 March at 11am, bookings not required.

Maggie and the OWLS: Light in Space

Maggie and the OWLS: Light in Space

Working with Western Sydney and Blue Mountains artists, LIGHT IN SPACE at Penrith Regional Gallery honours the traditions and evolving techniques of lacemaking, which is often seen as more of a domestic, decorative craft than experimental contemporary art practice. The exhibition is a collaboration between local lacemaking collective the Outer West LacemakerS (OWLS) and acclaimed NSW lace artist Maggie Hensel-Brown. They have created installations and displays in each room of Lewers House Gallery, the former home of artists Margo and Gerald Lewers. LIGHT IN SPACE highlights the great breadth and skill of lacework in its many forms, and celebrates The OWLS' 40th anniversary. Together they invite us to see lacemaking with renewed clarity — the stories it tells, the histories behind it, and its future possibilities.

Sahaja Yoga Meditation invites you to a truly uplifting event, featuring world-class Hindustani classical music and a unique experience of true meditation.
Rhitom Sarkar is an internationally acclaimed Hindustani Slide Guitar virtuoso.
A top-grade artist with All India Radio (AIR) and a disciple of music master Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya, Rhitom has earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious ‘Sur-Mani’ award from Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai.
Blending the traditions of Hindustani slide guitar with the elegance of classical Spanish guitar, Rhitom creates an enchanting fusion of Eastern and Western melodies. Women’s Let’s talk Football Series

Women’s Let’s talk Football Series

Exciting news for our local community! Wentworth Falls Football Club has just secured a grant from Football Australia’s Growing Football Fund. This grant is all about boosting women’s football across Australia, and our very own WFFC is leading the charge.

To celebrate, WFFC is launching an educational series called “Women’s Let’s Talk Football.” This series is designed to attract new players and keep current ones engaged. Over five weeks in May, there will be evening sessions every Thursday from 7:15 to 8:15pm at the Wentworth Falls School of Arts and Pitt Park.

These sessions are packed with active learning, combining practical exercises and theory to help women strengthen their bodies and improve their football skills. Whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned player, you’re welcome to join any or all of the sessions, free of charge. Plus, there will be light refreshments and child-minding services available each night.

Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity! For more information or to register, email [email protected] or https://tinyurl.com/3nw9m7ja . This initiative is proudly supported by Football Australia and CommBank.
